Hi My Loves!
It’s my birthday month and I want to thank you for rocking me with so far this year and for putting up with my failed attempts to stay on any kind of schedule with this newsletter. Lol. As you can see, I’m testing a different format, so I hope this is easier for you guys to read and follow along.
It has been a long few months. I moved into a new place and have been trying to get acclimated to yet another change. But I like it so far. My books are around me, and we all know that’s a whole one third of what I need to be happy (the other two are wine and sandwiches, lol).
Things are picking up and the weather is nice and warm. I have a niece going to college in the fall, and time is flying. We’re midway through the year. And although I have not done all I’ve wanted to do, I’ve done enough to be satisfied, and my hard work is paying off.
In Shameka the Writer News…
Okay. So this is the place where I tell you where I’ve been and where I’m going, and all the ways you can experience me and my work. Here we go.
I did an interview with CanvasRebel about the things that have impacted my writing, and what makes being a creator so great. You can read it here: CanvasRebel Interview
I was a guest on the Permission to Write Podcast, hosted by my good friend and fellow author Ashley Coleman Smith. We talked about the Stigma of Romance with another one of my author faves, the amazing Bella Jay. Watch it here: PTW- The Stigma of Romance
This weekend is Essence Fest and with the help of my baby Torri (Black Romance Connoisseur) and The Collective Curates, my book, The Air Between Us, will be sold in the Essence Fest Bookstore. If you’re going to Essence, pick up a signed copy of my work!
Speaking of The Air Between Us, it is now available at Loyalty Books, in both Washington, DC and Silver Spring, and at the DC Public Library!
Where You Can See Me
I will be tabling and selling books at the upcoming Chicago Urban Book Expo-September 27-29. I will also be attending the Million Pages Gala that same weekend.
I will also be in attendance at the upcoming Southern Hearts and Signed Kisses Book Event (October 18-19) BUT STRICTLY AS A FAN! Either way, I’ll be glad to hug some of you.
Have you heard about next year’s most anticipated event? The Black Romance Book Fest is happening May 31- June 1, 2025 in Atlanta and promises to be one of the year’s best, with authors from all over the Black Romance galaxy, including yours truly.
